Hey! I'm Dayna.

I'm a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, double-majoring in Journalism and Political Science at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media. I care about getting stories right and getting them out on time, whether they run in print, on air or online.

At The Daily Tar Heel I've worked across the newsroom: Editorial Board member, copy desk staffer, University Desk writer and now Assistant Copy Desk Editor, where I'm on the copy desk's leadership team, lay out articles for print in InDesign and serve as one of the final editors for accuracy and clarity before publication.

This fall I joined Carolina Week as a reporter, producing content for the weekly student-run newscast. This summer I worked as a FactCheck Research Intern at CNN in Atlanta, where I was a primary researcher for live events, long-term feature stories and daily content across the network's digital and linear platforms.

Outside the newsroom, I'm Chapter President of the Kappa Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a Resident Advisor at Granville Towers, and a former student assistant with NCSMA, where I helped run Hussman School summer camps and statewide high school and collegiate media contests.

I'm looking for full-time opportunities in journalism beginning after graduation in May 2027. If you have a story that needs to be told, let's talk.
