About

Hi! My name is Dayna Wilkerson, and I am a sophomore majoring in Media and Journalism, on the journalism track, at the Hussman School of Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, linked here. I also major in Political Science. In my free time, I work as a member of the Copy and University Desks for the Daily Tar Heel, formerly on the Opinion Desk, and as a member of the Kappa Omicron chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., as the Treasurer and Economic Development Co-Chair, formerly the Political Awareness and Involvement Co-Chair. I am also an RA on campus, and I work on campus for the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association. I am also part-time for a non-profit think tank on the education doctorate, CPED.

After college, I want to work at one of my local TV stations (WRAL, WTVD, ABC11) in Raleigh to get some local experience, and while I work there, I will pursue my law or graduate degree. Then, I want to move to Washington D.C. or New York City to become a broadcast journalist as a news anchor on any of the big three stations (ABC, CBS, NBC), become a White House Correspondent, or work for the Washington Post or the New York Times. Later in my career, I’d love to work for 60 Minutes on CBS and cover important stories each Sunday.
