Hi! My name is Dayna Wilkerson, and I am a freshman majoring in Media and Journalism at the Hussman School of Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, linked here. I am currently pondering double majoring in Journalism and Political Science here because I have a deep passion for politics, and I hope to cover that in my career. In my free time, I work as a member of the Editorial Board for the Daily Tar Heel and write for the Black Ink. I am also a part of Model UN at the university and volunteer at a local Habitat for Humanity Restore.
After college, I want to work at one of my local TV stations (WRAL, WTVD, ABC11) in Raleigh to get some local experience, and while I work there, pursue my law or graduate degree. Then, I want to move to Washington D.C. or New York City to become a broadcast journalist as a news anchor on any of the big three stations (ABC, CBS, NBC), become a White House Correspondent, or work for the Washington Post or New York Times. Later in my career, I’d love to work for 60 Minutes on CBS and cover important stories each Sunday.
